On Saturday and Sunday the ground will shake with a noise and spectacle to rival anything in the air above.

The event will reverberate for the first time with the sights, sounds and smells of more than a dozen of the , NASCAR-style, 190 mph US-built race cars which are racing in the 2008 VSR V8 Trophy across the circuits of Britain and Europe.

The drivers and teams are going to be in action over the public weekend for awards in a 2 day pit-stop competition to discover the best crew.

Spectators can see the thundering, NASCAR-style race cars first-hand, as they burn rubber battling for supremacy to discover which team can get in and out of the pit box in the shortest time, having changed all 4 tyres.

The crews and drivers will be available to chat and answer questions, and members of the public will also be able to squeeze themselves into some of the cramped cockpits of these V8 monsters.

The 2008 VSR V8 Trophy takes place over 22 races at 10 meetings from March to November, at circuits as far apart as Lincolnshire and France, with the legendary Brands Hatch somewhere in the middle!

With power of 450 hp going through the rear slick tyres, and no traction control or ABS brakes, the cars are amongst the most difficult yet rewarding to drive anywhere in the world. Many top drivers have tried their hand, including the legendary Colin Mcrae, and touring car champ Jason Plato, who declared the racing “phenomenal fun” before returning to the BTCC.
